REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology deals with the principles that there are reflex areas in the hands and feet which correspond to all glands, organs and parts of the body. The reflexes in the feet are a reflection of body parts. Stimulations of these reflex areas cause reactions in corresponding points of the body.
When the body is healthy and functions are unimpeded, homeostasis (fully fit) results. Disease results in upsets in homeostasis and consequently bodily functions are put out of balance.
Stress is the largest single threat to homeostasis and consequent disease. Reflexology treatment helps the body to heal itself and to return to a state of homeostasis by reducing stress (the first stage in all healing processes).
Effects of reflexology:
Promotes relaxation and a sense of well being
Improves blood supply
Connects functioning of nerves (unblocks nerve impulses)
Helps the body achieve homeostasis in cases of tissue congestion, causing imbalance in body functions
Aids recovery by helping the body to heal itself and repair
Compliments other forms of treatment, reduces dependency on medication and drugs.
